A Message From the Pastor

Welcome to our website at Scarborough Chinese Alliance Church (English.) Our prayer is that you will be refreshed and challenged by the material on this website, whether or not you attend church at SCAC. You'll find our sermons online with powerpoint presentations and notes that we use on Sunday. As well, you'll find lots of information about our schedules and activities. If you're not attending a church at the present time, and if you're in the general area of Toronto (our congregation ranges from as far east as Ajax to as far west as Mississauga), we extend a warm welcome to you to come to worship with us.

What're we about? SCAC English has five distinctives -

  1. We are a Deeper Life Church;
  2. We are a Small Groups Community;
  3. We are a Welcoming Family of Believers;
  4. We are a Missions Active People; and
  5. We are a Dual Church Partnership.

Dr. Timothy Quek

Each of these distinctives both defines us and gives us specific spiritual goals to pursue. The deeper life speaks of the pursuit of a steadfast and abounding connection with Christ; the small groups speaks about the way we organize ourselves to care for each other and to grow ; the welcoming family indicates our goals of fulfilling the New Commandment of our Lord in John 13.34; and missions active emphasizes that we are part of an alliance of people with an active intention and an inherent design to share the love of God and the salvation of Christ to the world. Finally, the dual church speaks of the unique relationship we have with the Cantonese speaking church that makes up Scarborough Chinese Alliance. Though our services and ministries are carried out exclusively in English, we have the benefit of a deep connection with the Cantonese church which also houses a Mandarin speaking church (Scarborough Mandarin Alliance Church.) Like two sticks that make up a pair of chopsticks, the Cantonese and English Churches together enjoy the strength of ministry seldom found in one church alone.

To our members and adherents coming to this website, I want to encourage you to use this site to find edification and connection through the week. Some of you are far away because of work, ministry, travel or studies. You're part of this body of believers regardless of where you are; our prayer and love is with you, and our sincere hope is that we would be soon be united in fellowship when you return to Toronto.

Many Blessings to All who Come to this Place,
Pastor Tim
